ALUMNI CONNECT

Your connection with AIB

As an AIB graduate, there are a number of ways you can maintain your connection with your alma mater in Canada and globally, continue your career development journey in conjunction with AIB and contribute to the future of the school.

Graduation and Events

Graduation

Graduation represents the conclusion of a very important phase in your life. It’s a single day in your calendar, but one that represents so much. If you’re in a position to be able to attend a Graduation to receive your AIB parchment and, most importantly, celebrate your achievement alongside your peers, we encourage you to do so.

Within each graduating cohort, the Valedictorian Award is granted to the MBA student(s) who achieved the highest grade point average. Those who achieved outstanding academic results also earn a place on the Dean’s Merit List.

All Graduation updates will be communicated to those eligible to graduate via email and published on AIB’s Graduation Page.

Networking Events

AIB hosts and facilitates opportunities for in-person networking each year, mainly in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, which is where the largest communities of AIB students and alumni reside.

Visit AIB Events for the latest dates and locations.

If you’re interested in helping AIB host alumni meet-ups in your city, reach out to our Alumni Manager at alumni@aib.edu.au.

Alumni Industry Panels

AIB’s Alumni Industry Panels were formed in 2020 to harness the expertise, insights and experiences of our diverse and highly skilled alumni members, and consult on current trends plus challenges within their industries. The five panels convene quarterly to consult on what’s happening in the business world right now, how to evolve the MBA learning content based on that, and how AIB can continuously improve the student experience for all. The panels are:

  • Leadership and Human Resource Management Alumni Panel
  • Marketing and Entrepreneurship Alumni Panel
  • Finance and Corporate Governance Alumni Panel
  • Operations and Supply Chain Strategy Alumni Panel
  • Customer Experience (CX) Alumni Panel

Canadians serve on each alumni panel to help inform the AIB learning journey for all.

Chaired by Discipline Leaders and AIB’s Alumni Manager, the panels have proven to be a highly engaging and mutually beneficial initiative, allowing the members to network with fellow alumni in their field and deepen industry insights through shared knowledge. For AIB, ongoing alumni consultation has proven to be highly beneficial in the development of new initiatives, the implementation of relevant case studies into subject learning, and in helping to steer the future of AIB.

AIB Review | Industry Publication for Alumni

AIB Review is our very own digital quarterly industry publication that brings the expertise and insights of the AIB community to trending issues in the business world. It is part of AIB’s commitment to deliver ongoing value to alumni and the wider student community. Since its inception, AIB Review is now distributed to over 200,000 alumni, current students and community members, with readership growing with each issue.

As the AIB alumni community is filled with seasoned professionals from diverse backgrounds, with enormous collective experience among them, alumni members are invited to contribute written articles for publication in AIB Review. This allows alumni to develop their authorship skills, showcase their unique professional insights and knowledge, and have their reflections on current industry trends read by our large community of business professionals.

Continue your education with AIB

Completed your postgraduate AIB studies and found you’ve developed a passion and thirst for learning? There are two ways that you can further your learning with AIB.

Undertake a Research Degree

For graduates, the MBA learning journey often unlocks an interest in a particular business discipline or current business problem, and with that a desire to contribute to practice or enact change. AIB’s research degrees are distinguished by their focus on work-applied learning and applied research methodologies such as action research, case research and mixed methods to produce a thesis that contributes directly to business practice.

In addition to AIB’s research higher degrees – Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) – we also offer two pathway courses – Graduate Certificate in Research Methodologies (GCRM) and Master of Management (MMgt).

AIB MBA graduates with a GPA of credit average (5.0) or higher are automatically eligible for the DBA, and all graduates are eligible for the GCRM and MMgt. Contact the Research Team for more information.

Complete additional MBA study to earn a second Master’s degree

For those who are eager for MBA-level learning in a familiar mode, AIB MBA graduates are able to return to MBA study and complete additional elective subjects that they weren’t able to fit in to their first degree. The best part… you can achieve your second MBA by completing just 4 subjects.

This offering for AIB alumni allows you to receive subject credits for up to two-thirds of the MBA you have already completed, leaving just the final stage (3 electives or specialist subjects + new Project subject) to complete to receive a second qualification. Depending on your current career and learning goals, you can choose a specialisation pathway to earn a specialised MBA, or handpick the elective subjects of interest to you to earn a general (unspecialised) postgraduate business degree.

It’s a great option for those who have changed careers or learning needs since their MBA and would now benefit from adding a specialised degree to their CV, or anyone interested in undertaking additional learning.

Contact the Enrolment Team for more information on enrolling in a second MBA >
